Habitat efforts will blitz Springfield

Can you imagine building two homes in two days? That's exactly what Clark County Habitat for Humanity has planned for the first weekend of May. The "Blitz Build," as it's called, will involve anywhere from 40 to 80 Habitat volunteers, plus any local volunteers, in the construction of two affordable homes for two local Springfield families identified as in need of homes.

Want to learn French? There's an application for that. Want to know the score of the football game? There's an application for that. Need to calculate your blood alcohol content? There's even an application for that. In the past decade, Apple has been booming with new toys, from the iPod to the iPhone, and just recently the iPad.

Internship gives taste of future for junior

Most interns spend their days in the office sending mail, running errands and answering phones. Ordinarily, so would junior Nick Clemente, but not as of late. As an intern for U.S. Congressman Steve Austria (R-OH), one of Clemente's latest projects was brokering a speaking engagement for Austria to speak at Wittenberg.

It is the summer of 2009. I have just moved from Dayton back into my Springfield apartment, and I am halfway through the dreaded process of unpacking. "They're a little, um, 15-year-old girl," my boyfriend says half-jokingly. He looks partly amused and partly worried.
