With the start of informal recruitment just a few days away it's no surprise that campus is swarming with Greek letters.
Informal recruitment, also referred to as Fall Rush, is an opportunity for Wittenberg's sophomores, juniors, and seniors to spend a week inside the Greek system with the possibility of "pledging" one of Wittenberg's six sororities or fraternities.
The first two nights of recruitment are dedicated to open houses. These parties allow potential new members to explore each Greek house and converse with its members in a casual environment.
Open houses are followed by Preference night which is also referred to as dessert night. These parties tend to follow a more formal set of guidelines and dress code and offer the potential new members a look at the more serious side of being Greek.
Greek houses have been gearing up for recruitment since the start of the school year and they seem to be anxious to get things started. Amy Fickert, recruitment chair for the Gamma Phi Beta house, said she is "super-psyched".
"I can't wait to get some new members into our house," she said. And as far as her predictions to the size of this year's fall recruitment, "You can't really tell but of course we're hoping for a big number of girls."
Students planning on rushing this fall are also gearing up for the week ahead. Megan Toothman, a Wittenberg sophomore, said she was "excited" for the upcoming rush.
"I'm more confident," Toothman said adding, "As sophomores you know a lot more people and you have a better feeling of which house you like, and which house you fit in to."
The week- long event will kick off with the first night of open houses on Tuesday, September 12 and end with Bid Day on Saturday, September 16.
