Football: After beating the defending North Coast Athletic Conference champions, Wabash, the Tigers appeared as though they had it all together. That apperance was shattered as they lost a close game to the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan, by a score of 17-10. Penalties and turnovers proved to be very costly as the Tigers lost their first conference game of the season. As for the NCAC title run, there is currently a five way tie, with five teams having only lost one game in conference. In order for the Tigers to have a shot at capturing that title, they must win the remainder of their games. They face Oberlin on the road, a tough Allegheny squad at home on Senior Recognition Day, and Hiram on the road to close out the remainder of the regular season. Essentially the football team is in control of their own fate.

Field Hockey: The Field Hockey team is currently in second place in the race for the conference title. Having beaten Oberlin twice, who were last years conference champion, the Tigers main focus is on their last regular season opponent, Wooster. Previously losing to Wooster this season 5-0, the Tigers will try to avenge that loss. The Tigers will face the fighting Scots this Saturday, October 28, at Edwards-Maurer Field. Even if the Tigers do fall to the Scots, they will still remain second in the conference entering tournament play.

Women's Soccer: As if a five way tie in the football race is not enough, the cut throat competition for the NCAC title for women's soccer is just as exciting. Having the top team in the conference, Denison, fall to Wooster and Kenyon, and Wooster loosing to Kenyon, the Tigers just need to win their last few regular season games to see where they will end up. Currently, they are tied with the Scots for first place in the conference, but the Tigers still have a challenging road ahead. After facing conference rivals Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday, the Tigers close on the road against Allegheny. If the Tigers did capture the conference title, this would be the first time since Wittenberg has joined the NCAC in 1989.

Men's Soccer: The 2006 season has been filled with ups and downs for the men's soccer team, but despite inconsistent play, the Tigers still have a chance of making to the conference tournament. The team most recently beat Wabash and Hiram at home that helped to keep their hopes alive. The men must win their remaining two games of the season on the road in order to have a chance. They will have to beat Earlham and Allegheny. If the Tigers do win both of these games, then they will make a second consecutive post season appearance.
Volleyball: The volleyball team is once again dominating the NCAC. With a record of 13-0 in the NCAC, and only three conference games left, the Tigers are on track to win their tenth title and make an appearance in the national tournament. Their last regular season matches will be played this coming weekend in the annual Fall Classic, with the NCAC tournament following one weekend later. A conference title for the women's volleyball team is so close they can feel it.
