Letter to the Torch
Maureen Fry
Issue date: 2/8/07 Section: Opinion
I would like to publicly thank Dan Foreman for his powerfully heartfelt and persuasive piece in the Torch (Feb. 1) about the escalation in Iraq. Dan is right; we need more young people to help us call for change. They are the ones who will die in this immoral war (or the next one!), the ones whose lives-if they do survive-will be forever marked, physically or psychologically, by that experience.
Many of us have been protesting this evil war since before it began. To escalate the war over the objections of most Americans (who now finally recognize it for the evil it is) is unconscionable. If you have not read Dan's article carefully, I urge you to do so. It is a red alert to the dangers that face all of us.
