More than just the food service lady:
Q & A with Dawn Kolb

Q: How long have you been working for Wittenberg?
A: This is my fourth year at Wittenberg. I started in 2002 and for 10 years, I've been with Sodexho, one of the largest food service and customer industries.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working here?
A: In general, I like the campus. The people are very friendly. Before when I worked somewhere else like Wright State, I never got a hello. Here at Wittenberg, people take the time to say hello even if they don't know you.
Working at the Café a la Cart, I like seeing the kids interact. It's fun to see them grow, as well as watching them learn and change before your eyes. I feel like I'm playing a second mom to them.
Q: What do you find most challenging?
A: It's hard trying to keep up with the supply and demand. I have to keep a unit together and have food and drinks stocked for the kids. But it's something I take pride in.
Q: What is one of your fondest memories here?
A: I'll always remember when Zach Bozic told me that I had received the Big W Award for November of 2006. I think it was a great honor because the kids had voted, not the employees. It was the students that were saying thankyou.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I've been a NASCAR fan for 10 years. I like to play in the online fantasy leagues and I try to attend two races a year. This summer in June, my husband and I will be going to the Michigan race. I also enjoy crocheting, gardening, and spending time with my family.
Q: What would be a piece of advice you'd give to people who eat at Café a la Cart for the first time?
A: I would say to not be afraid to ask questions regarding what they can get. I'm very friendly and I'm always here for them, not just at Wittenberg. I like knowing that I'm not just the food service lady.
