Friday, April 27, at 9:00 p.m. Wittenberg's American International Association and Concerned Black Students will sponsor a fashion show. Including eight different categories, the volunteer models will style glamorous red carpet apparel, attire from around the world, and much more. "We have about 30 people modeling," said the AIA president Karell Pelle.
The fashion show proceeds will go to Invisible Children Inc. "It's [the fashion show] what we're using to get people to come out and raise money for a charity," said Pelle.
"Invisible Children Inc. is a nonprofit organization that aims to rehabilitate into society Ugandan children who have been abducted by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), turning them into child soldiers and sex slaves.
The LRA has been operating since the late 80's and is responsible for human rights violations on the populace including mutilation, rape, and massive abduction.
Money collected at the fashion show will go towards the efforts of Invisible Children Inc.," read a recent Student Activities e-mail from Pelle encouraging people to model and volunteer.
People from all across campus are getting involved. Greeks, CBS members, AIA members, and others are volunteering their time in the fashion show. The hope is to get as many people to the charity as possible. "A lot of people want to help others…it's just hard to get people to come out and support," said Pelle.
Also supporting the fashion show, different clothing stores will be donating their styles. Multiple stores have been approached to assist in the show and Marshals and Kohl's have already committed to helping by supplying outfits. Other stores are still in the process.
The fashion show will be held in the central dining room, April 27 at 9 p.m. For more information, contact Karell Pelle, or Terraya Lewis.
