Homecoming Weekend

There is no better time to show Wittenberg spirit than during Homecoming Weekend. It's that time of year that brings out the red and white in Wittenberg students and truly shows their Tiger pride.
Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 10-12, is here. The theme for the weekend is "Eye of the Tiger," and the goal is to bring back tradition. This starts with the running of the football from Columbus in preparation for the big football game versus Earlham.
The annual parade will still walk through campus, but instead of roaming down Alumni Way, the organizations will waltz by the centrally located hollow, where Family Fun Fest has been relocated. The Tiger Tailgate will also be in the hollow in order to allow for an easy entrance into the football stadium. Representatives from all different organizations will still be walking in the parade, as will the Homecoming Court. The anticipation of the king and queen will end at halftime, when the royalty will be announced.
Students are sure to be stocking up on balloons and trimmings. The annual house decoration contest is still on, with great prizes for the winners of Greek houses and regular campus housing.
In order to mentally prepare for the weekend, Union Board has designated a theme to each day of the week leading up to Saturday, such as "pajama day" and "80s day." Not only is this a fun way to get ready for the weekend, but it is also a competition, and class rivalry will arise, along with the canned food drive.
Anna List, co-special weeks chair for Union Board, wants the themes and activities to "bring people together and get them excited."
Homecoming is a chance for alumni to come back to their beloved campus and see the ways it still is thriving.
Alumni will start arriving Thursday, Oct. 10, but more activities will begin on Friday, with various reunion dinners throughout the weekend.
