A lot of students seem to think that they have plenty of time to get started on their career search; however, this is not the case. Though graduation might feel far away-and perhaps may be the last thing you want to think about-there is work that must be done now in order to secure a job for your future.
Employers are looking now for eager, ambitious college students and the positions are being filled by those willing to put in the work. With the way our economy is changing, jobs are getting even scarcer and there is more competition for the same few spots.

The first step to finding the career of your dreams is creating your résumé. Your résumé represents you and your experiences to a prospective employer and shows them why you are qualified for the position you are seeking. This is done by informing them of what you have been involved in and what you did or learned from your position that qualifies you for their position.
However, it is not your life story-it should be clear and concise, fitting on one page. WittPath Career Services Peer Interns are trained to help you at any stage of your résumé-building process; they can help with brainstorming, developing, formatting, and critiquing in order to produce the best product possible.
The ultimate goal is to present you and your experiences in a way that shows you are the best candidate for position.
Once you have a résumé completed and perfected, you have to get it out there for employers to see. You need to have it up on JobRecruiter, which can be accessed through the WittPath website.
JobRecruiter is a network system for internship and career opportunities. You must have your résumé posted here before being able to interview with any recruiter that comes to Witt. Speaking of which-it is important to take advantage of companies that come to Witt for interviews because they are looking for students like you.
